       Lesson Plans

This lesson uses facts and quizzes to raise awareness of the short and long-term effects of alcohol on the body, the social effects of alcohol consumption and facts about the drug itself.

Alcohol and the body

Facts and animation are used to raise awareness of the short and long-term effects of alcohol on the body. How alcohol affects the brain is often most immediately important to young people.

Debate social and biological issues surrounding alcohol consumption and the resulting injuries and illnesses that can occur.

Risky business

The lesson raises awareness that alcoholic drinks have different alcoholic strengths and teaches students how to recognise the different strengths and how to calculate them.

Drink driving

The lesson considers how alcohol affects different parts of the body and how this can compromise important tasks such as driving. The lesson looks at both the biological and social effects of alcohol.

Advertising alcohol

Pupils are encouraged to think critically about the target audiences for a selection of adverts and alcoholic products. Each group also discusses how to add a responsible drinking message to adverts.

What happened next?

Here students consider the consequences of binge drinking and the presence of alcohol at parties. It sets out the facts about how alcohol compromises you physically and mentally, making informed decisions impossible.
